The Saboteur

Right, i just finished playing The Saboteur and thought i would review it...sort of

The Saboteur is another sandbox game, but this time set in WWII Nazi occupied Paris. You play Sean Devlin the loveable Irishman who has been drafted in to the French resistance after some tragedy.

As the title suggests, a large portion of the game involves sabotaging (and by that i mean blowing up) various Nazi 'stuff'. Most missions involve going to a Nazi base, blowing sh*t up, killing Nazis and then escaping. There are 2 ways to do this: there is the standard run in and shoot everything option or the sneaky sneaky approach which involves dressing up as a Nazi and slowly walking around picking off enemy's one by one.

The game borrows heavily from other sandbox games most notably Assassins Creed. It does however have this black and white arty thing going on, areas of Paris dominated by Nazi oppression appear black and white, save for the eye catching red of the Nazi flags; while areas that have been inspired by your blowing up of stuff are in full colour.

There is also a large concentration on vehicles, seeing a Sean is a racing driver. There are various races throughout the game, in the main story and as freeplay side missions as well as a car collection mechanic; if you like a car, drive it to a garage and you can store it, with bonus' for collecting all of the cars.

All in all this is another mediocre sandbox game that, while being very good just doesn't do anything new. If you have played a lot of sandbox games, you've already seen what this game has to offer. If you don't like sandbox games, this game isn't going to change anything. But if you have never played a sandbox game, or have played a few and liked them, you should buy this game.
